Playing fields
The playing fields are located at the southern edge of the village adjacent to the A417. They are approx 5 acres in size and are home to the village hall, scout hut, play area and sports pavilion. They have been in existence for approx 50 years and are run by a team of volunteers. The last ten years have seen significant improvements which has resulted in increased usage on all fronts.
Play Area
Recently this has been completely revamped with new equipment installed, landscaped and a barbecue area provided. This was funded by local donations, lottery funding, grants from Gloucestershire Community Foundation and the Deputy Prime MInister's office. This is an extremely well used facility by both villagers and families farther afield.
Sports Pavilion
This was renovated and enlarged in 1997. Again this was funded by local donations and numerous grants. This is primarily used by the cricket and football clubs but is available for small meetings etc such as Corse Young Farmers. Due to the success of the sports club, the pavilion will shortly be extended to accommodate the extra numbers.
Cricket Club
This celebrated its centenary in 1995, and since then its has not looked backed. Throughout the summer it is used almost every day of the week. The club run a mens team on Wednesday, Saturday(2), and Sundays. A recent addition has been the ladies X1 who play on a Sunday. On the junior front we now have 4 qualified coaches who look after under 10's, 11's, 13's and 15's who play league cricket. The cricket square and outfield is maintained by members and we have won 'wicket' of the year which is voted on by other clubs in the same league. We have strong links with the local school and a regular challenge game is played for the Chairman's Shield.
Football Club
This club has been in existence since the 1920's. Again, in recent years it has been successful with promotion to the Northern Senior League which is quite an achievement for a village of our size. Over the last two years the club has introduced a second X1 due to the extra demand.
Scout Hut
The existing Scout Hut has been there since the 1960's but over past year few years has gradually got into a bad state of repairs. However, following a very generous anonymous donation from a local resident a new hut on a different part of the field is nearing completion. The hut will house the local beavers, cubs and scouts.
Village Hall
The village is very lucky to have a hall of this size which has been recently renovated and extended. It is widely used by villagers and is home for the youth club which meets on a Friday, the Short Mat bowling team, etc.
SCATS
An amateur dramatic group which is made up of adults and children from Staunton/Corse and surrounding villages.
The group has been going for 21 years and welcomes all newcomers who would like to perform on stage, to help backstage or to help with the general running of the group.
